Y & S Stick Licorice
An usweetened form of hard licorice called "Y & S Stick Licorice". It had a flattened area with the word "favorite" embossed on it.  It came in a bright orange box and sold for $0.15. It was made by the National Licorice Company Brooklyn N.Y., Moline, Ill., Phil., PA., and Montreal, Canada.

Y & S Licorice Nibs
Y&S manufactured the black and cherry licorice nibs back in the sixties and seventies. The package was tu-tone, pink and red with a a camel and caravan in an oasis setting on the front of the package.

Physical Specifications

It was about 3/4" x 3/4" about 4-6 inches long with notches on it so pieces could be broken off. Again, no sugar added to it as it was fairly strong. It came in an oblong box that was organic in color and had a picture in black of the candy inside. Sort of like a cigar. It was very hard and had an oval manufacturer's stamp near one end, bitter to initial taste, sweet aftertaste. The Y & S brand is now owned by Hersheys now. The sticks shape is no longer made.
